Bondi Beach Cottage Inc. (the Cottage) is a not for profit community organisation, established in 1984 and is based in Bondi. It provides for a range of family services (which are outlined in the family services section of this website), as well as an occasional childcare facility (see child care section) catering for up to 20 children, a number of which are for clients of family services. The Cottage is a registered charitable organisation, so any donations gratefully received will be fully tax deductable. A volunteer Board, who are drawn from the local community, community organisations and the private sector, manages the Cottage. The Board meets monthly to discuss strategic matters and makes key decisions on policy, direction and funding. The Cottage works collaboratively with a number of other community organisations in the local areas including Holdsworth Community Centre, Jewish House, Delores and the Deli Women and Children’s Service, just to name a few. The Cottage also offers a range of parenting programs including groups for new parents and other support groups each year. These are listed regularly under the ‘Programs page’ (rather than parenting) on this website. For general information about family support services, occasional child care or the various parenting programs please phone us on (02) 93651607 between the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday – Friday or email admin@bondibeachcottage.org.au

Our Patron is Kay Schubach who is herself is a survivor of domestic violence. Immediately after her escape, she fled to SE Asia to write a memoir of the events. That book, Perfect Stranger: A True Story, was published by Penguin in 2012, and has sold over 10,000 copies, in two editions and is translated to Czech and Polish. Her abuser is now in jail and currently appealing in the Supreme Court for his release. Kay is now a prominent campaigner, ambassador and advocate for domestic violence and gender equity. She has partnered with a lawyer to focus on supporting women through abusive relationship breakdowns, empowering them by means of strong financial and legal strategies. She has provided advocacy support to state and federal ministers and national campaigns for systemic reform, and consulted to commercial firms on domestic violence policy. She speaks regularly at national symposiums and events, and was selected last year as Top 10 Social Enterprise category in the Westpac/Fairfax 100 Women of Influence 2015.
